Summerschool Data stewardship

Right of access and reuse of research data is not only very important to development and innovation, but it also prevents unnecessary replication and increases verifiability, and hence also the reliability of scientific research. Data stewardship is based on FAIR principles; Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable data.
Two speakers who work in libraries were present at the Summer School. In the final keynote, Paul Ayris, director of the library of University College London, spoke about Open Science, the umbrella term under which all Open initiatives fall, such as Open Access, Open Data, Open Education, Open Sources, etc. In addition, Juan Ignasi Labastida, who works at the Resource Center for Learning and Resources, the library of the University of Barcelona, spoke about Creative Commons, a licensing model for publications and data.
